Board Spotlight: Meet Sana Shaban

Introduce yourself and tell us a little about your professional background?

I work in the Ontario Public Service, within a corporate-finance-based role. Outside of work, I am pursuing my Chartered Professional Accountant Designation!

What inspired you to join the Rooftops Canada Board? What does Rooftops Canada's mission mean to you personally?

I joined Rooftops Canada’s Board after being matched through the FORA Network’s Rise on Boards program, which puts young women and gender-marginalized youth in decision-making spaces with the aim of building greater equity.

Rooftops Canada has built significant cultural expertise and relationships across the Global South, and I particularly appreciate the organization's culturally sensitive and grassroots approach to supporting women’s rights.

Why should Canadians care about Rooftops Canada’s work and the impact it creates?

In an increasingly connected world, the socio-economic realities of Canada’s trade partners impacts the well-being of Canadians. Rooftops Canada makes lives better not only for the communities it touches abroad, but also for Canadians.

What message would you like to share with Rooftops Canada's supporters?

Just a massive, massive thank you! You make this work possible 😊
