Latin America and the Caribbean

Rooftops Canada has worked directly with non-governmental partner organizations in Haiti, Jamaica, Cuba, Chile, Colombia, Mexico, Nicaragua and Uruguay. These partnerships have included work on disaster resistant housing construction; income generation and housing materials production; housing cooperative development; and, housing finance. Rooftops Canada has also carried out assessments of post-disaster housing projects in Honduras and Nicaragua.

 

Rooftops Canada maintains a close working relationship with the Habitat International Coalition (HIC) Secretariat in Santiago, Chile, and with HIC Latin America based in Mexico City. Through these two organizations, we have an extensive network of contacts working on all aspects of housing and human settlements in Latin America. When possible and sensible, we have assisted with establishing links among these groups, and between them and our partners in Africa.

 

Rooftops Canada is currently looking for ways to reinforce and extend its programming in both Latin America and the Caribbean.
