Tanzania Building Homes, Building Lives Campaign: Update

Dear friend of Rooftops Canada,
I want to take a minute of your time to thank you for your generous contribution to our Building Homes, Building Lives in Tanzania.
Thanks to your support and that of others like you, Rooftops Canada raised over $35,000 to help low income Tanzanian families get access to land and start the process of building a home – room by room. Our partners in Tanzania, WAT Human Settlement Trust, with the help of Rooftops Canada, have also succeeded in receiving a significant contribution from a multi donor finance facility called CLIFF – the Community Led Infrastructure Finance Facility, based in the UK.
CLIFF has committed $4million to further WAT’s work on the ground.  Rooftops Canada’s technical assistance and long term partnership with WAT played a key role in leveraging this very substantial commitment. It will allow WAT to expand its work and provide much needed housing to more than 1,200 families over the next two years. The funds you helped raise will play the very vital role of allowing WAT to purchase and hold land in advance for future CLIFF funded projects.
We are also very pleased to announce that the Ontario Non-Profit Housing Association and the Co-operative Housing Federationsof BC and Canada will also be lending WAT a total of $20,000 for five years to complement the funds we have raised.
In late February, I visited one of the WAT project sites and was impressed by the site organization and the new core houses under construction. The management team at WAT was also very excited that they will have additional funds to purchase and bank land for future projects. You can read more about my visit to WAT by clicking here.
Thanks again on behalf of Rooftops Canada and its overseas partners. Your understanding of the importance of housing is making a real difference in people’s lives.
Most sincerely

Barry Pinsky, Executive Director
